NEW - Launch Date 13th September !! We currently have 14 people representing four churches in the town training for their role as Street Pastors. This is an initiative started by Ascension trust in Brixton in 2003 and now has about 75 schemes nationally. The aim is to have sufficient people trained that we can go out in a group of 4 on a Friday and Saturday night throughout the year between 9pm - 3am, offering care, support and guidance. Ideally we would like 30 people, but until sufficient are trained then we will try and do 3 evenings per month minimum. Anyone interested must be be a Christian, aged at least 18 years, no upper age limit, and reasonably fit. Training will take place in the evenings for new members. We will be commissioned on Saturday 13th September at a special church service and then take our first patrol. We also require people to pray for us and the people and situations we encounter. Prayer changes people and circumstances. Street Pastors is suported financially by Churches Together, the police and the local council. I am the part-time co-ordinator and if you require any further information please contact : paul-senior@sky.com When you have finished viewing this page please use your browsers BACK button to return to the HOME page |
