The Bishop’s Stortford YMCA provides self-contained residential
accommodation for 27 vulnerable young adults between the ages of 18 and
30 who are need of support. Each resident has an Assured Shorthold
Tenancy agreement. Staff work alongside residents to develop activities
that are stimulating and challenging. Our objective is to enable each
young person to move from dependence to independence - and via
individual support plans residents are able to identify and address
areas of need during their 6 month to 2 year stay with us. We have
passed both the Supporting People and Matrix quality assurance
frameworks. Other provision includes: an emergency ‘crash pad’
facility; two flats with communal facilities for young adults requiring
more intensive support; careers and educational information and advice,
as well intensive 1-to-1 personal development programmes. See
